Singapore Green Plan 2030

The Singapore Green Plan 2030, launched by the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, is a national movement to advance Singapore's sustainable development agenda. This comprehensive blueprint outlines ambitious targets across five key pillars to transform Singapore into a sustainable, resilient, and green city-state.

City in Nature

Creating a green, liveable, and sustainable home for all:

  • Plant over 1 million trees to absorb 78,000 tons of CO2
  • Ensure every household is within a 10-minute walk to a park
  • Increase green spaces nationwide by 1,000 hectares by 2035

Sustainable Living

Making sustainability a way of life for Singaporeans:

  • Reduce landfill waste by 20% by 2026 and 30% by 2030
  • Increase public transport mode share to 75% by 2030
  • Reduce household water consumption to 130 liters per person per day

Energy Reset

Using cleaner energy and improving energy efficiency:

  • Deploy 2 GWp of solar energy by 2030
  • All new car registrations to be cleaner-energy models by 2030
  • 80% of new buildings to be Super Low Energy buildings by 2030

Green Economy

Creating green jobs and economic growth opportunities:

  • Develop as a carbon services hub and green finance center in Asia
  • Launch Enterprise Sustainability Programme to support SMEs
  • Create new jobs in green finance and sustainability consulting

Resilient Future

Addressing climate change challenges to secure our future:

  • Establish a $5 billion Coastal and Flood Protection Fund
  • Develop protection plans for key coastal areas by 2030
  • Achieve 30% of nutritional needs locally produced (30x30 goal)

Strategic Partnership

The Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) and the Singapore Art Research Association (SGFARA) have forged a groundbreaking partnership to establish the "Design for Green" Experimental Lab Center. This innovative collaboration integrates artistic creativity with sustainable development principles.

This pioneering initiative aims to leverage the power of art and design to promote green lifestyles and embed sustainability into every aspect of Singaporean society. The Lab Center will serve as Southeast Asia's first innovation platform dedicated to sustainable art and design.

Our shared vision recognizes that art is not merely an expression of beauty, but a catalyst for societal transformation. Through design thinking and innovative artistic practices, we can redefine humanity's relationship with nature and create a more sustainable future.

The "Design for Green" Lab Center will bring together artists, designers, engineers, environmental scientists, and policymakers to develop innovative sustainable solutions that support the implementation of Singapore's Green Plan 2030.
